Robert Fabius Butler

Robert Fabius Butler was born January 4, 1834 in Simpson County, Kentucky, the son of George W. and Lucy Jennings Butler. He married Mary Anne Moss in Hart County, Kentucky on April 18, 1860. She was the daughter of Albert T. and Sarah J. McCaul Moss. They came to Dallas County, Texas, in the Fall of 1854. After her death, he married Mamie Ford.

He was a circuit riding Baptist preacher. He and his brother, Joseph Jennings Butler, founded the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at Richardson, Texas, which was later changed to the First Baptist Church of Richardson, Texas.

He raised and exhibited prize-winning game chickens, and in the 1890s, he wrote the "Uncle Snort" column for Farm and Ranch Magazine. Robert was a Mason and appears on list of Dallas citizens of 1881 as a farmer in Richardson.
